EAPBM objectives

  • Promote the role and profession of bicycle mechanicI

  • dentify and promote the training opportunities across member nations

  • Identify and promote job opportunities across the member nations

  • Identify and promote training opportunities across the member nations

  • Identify and record mechanics that have demonstrated competence through qualification and/or experience

  • Work closely with the industry to disseminate continual education and product information to professional bicycle mechanics

  • Work closely with the governing bodies of the sport nationally, globally and in Europe to identify and recognise the role of the bicycle mechanic in sport

  • Work closely with industry bodies including but not limited to CIE, CONEBI, ECF to promote the role and importance of the bicycle mechanic

  • Develop relationships with organisations that can offer products and services to professional bicycle mechanics such as product discount

  •  

 

Types of membership

 

Associate member

A member that has demonstrated that they are a professional bicycle mechanic with either 2 years full time experience as a bicycle mechanic (or equivalent) or a recognised qualification as a bicycle mechanic and is working in the role

 

80e a year rolling from date of membership acceptance

 

Founding Associate member

An associate or Corporate member that joins before the end of 2026. Initial payment of 200e and then 80e a year rolling from date of membership acceptance

 

Student member

An aspiring member and mechanic that has not yet achieved the criteria for associate

 

40e a year rolling from date of membership acceptanceC

 

orporate member

An organisation aligned to the bicycle industry or providing services to that industry that wants to support the aims and objectives of the EAPBM

 

250e a year rolling from date of membership acceptance

 

Association supporter

A individual that wants to show their support for the aims and objectives of the association but does not meet other criteria, this category of membership can also be gifted at the discretion of the board

 

20e a year rolling from date of membership acceptance

 

Structure

 

The EAPBM is an association registered in France. Its principle director and president is Mark Barfield. We will recruit national Vice Presidents with the following aimsDevelop national contacts with similar and aligned organisationsDevelop national contacts within the bicycle industryRecruit membersDevelop national associationsThe Vice Presidents will form the board and meet on the regular basis. A physical meeting will be held once a year based around an industry event and each associate member and corporate member will have one vote on all presented business. Vice presidents will be remunerated by taking a commission for every new member (or renewal) within their territory. We are currently recruiting our vice presidents and will then open general membership from Jan 2025.
